The House on Tuesday approved a measure reaffirming "In God We Trust" as the national motto. Rep. Randy Forbes (R-Va.), the sponsor of the bill, said the resolution was necessary to remind Obama and other public officials who forget the memo intentionally or unintentionally.«o» The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has decided to 'support' #OccupySanFrancisco at their Justin Herman park location. There is a big showdown in Oakland looming however with a general strike declared citywide in the wake of last week's police riot. It's believed that the focus of the protest will be economic, and possibly target the Port of Oakland, perhaps with support from the Longshoremans Union (BIG 'U'), the ILWU. There are also sympathy strikes in New York and other cities around the U.S. in support of the Oakland action."Unfortunately, there are a number of public officials who forget what the national motto is, whether intentionally or unintentionally," Forbes said Tuesday."There are those who become confused as to whether or not it can still be placed on our buildings, whether it can be placed in our school classrooms.Forbes singled out Obama at one point in his floor remarks...
To which the president replied while on a speaking tour near a dilapidated bridge he claims his jobs bill will help refurbish and bring up to code:"That's not putting people back to work," Obama said.
